THE PROJECT:

Biomis envisages the creation of the first Italian biobank of intestinal, salivary and vaginal microbiota from healthy patients and volunteers. This will allow, on the one hand, to carry out research activities of excellence through meta-omic approaches, in vitro and in vivo studies that will open new frontiers for experimentation in the context of the close correlation of microbiota-pathologies. From a therapeutic point of view, the existence of a biobank will be essential for the transplantation of fecal microbiota (FMT).

The creation of the first Italian microbiota biobank envisaged in this project has strategic importance, also in terms of international prestige and employment and development effects in the territories involved.

THE ROLE OF FARMALABOR

In this project Farmalabor, thanks to its know-how and its expertise in pharmaceutical technology, will provide regulatory support to ensure high standards of quality and safety of the materials used in the purification and conservation of the microbiota for therapeutic purposes. Furthermore, Farmalabor is actively collaborating in the development of an innovative pharmaceutical form for the administration of FMT to patients.
